Over the course of my 25 years of being a nutritionist, I have seen plenty of health fads come and go. Some were just plain silly (the cabbage soup diet) while others were flat out dangerous (detox teas).

But there has been one trend that began about 15 years ago and has lasted the test of time. Actually, it’s even more popular now than ever before...

Greens Powder

It feels like the term "greens drink" has become synonymous with getting healthy and losing weight. If you want to be healthy like the pros, you have to chug a green drink every morning.

But is this true?

The answer here may surprise you…

NO, you don’t need to start your day with a green drink every morning in order to be healthy.

So if that’s the case, why would you even want to?

The top two reasons I see almost daily among our members are…

CRAVINGS and ENERGY.

There are so many reasons a high-quality greens powder can be a great addition to your weight loss eating plan but, hands down, the top 2 reasons I see all the time among our members is that it helps them control afternoon cravings and it helps them avoid the afternoon energy crash.

Why would that be?

First, a quality greens powder (and we’ll discuss a bit more about quality in a second) helps to fill any nutritional gaps you may have. Even healthy eaters can experience these deficiencies since it's near impossible to cover all of your vitamins and minerals each day, no matter how great your eating plan is.

But greens powders do a great job of filling in those nutrient holes which in turn help your body combat cravings for sugar more easily.

How about energy?

This one, as well, has to do with a potential vitamin deficiency so many people suffer from without even knowing it (especially women)... Vitamin B12.

A good dose of Vitamin B12, especially in the morning, does a great job of providing your body with natural energy throughout the day, helping to prevent any energy crashes later in the afternoon.

And this isn’t a stimulant/caffeine type of energy. It’s a nice, steady, "I feel like I had a good night’s sleep" kind of energy.

So with these great benefits, could there be a downside to using a greens powder?

The biggest downside I see is supplement manufacturers all jumping on the bandwagon to produce the next popular supplement, while cutting corners and not focusing on quality. Many of the greens powders you find on Amazon or even in some large retail stores are not 3rd party tested and are chock full of fillers and additives.

Here’s just a few of the ingredients I found in the most popular greens powders sold on Amazon:

 • Guar gum
 • Sunflower oil powder
 • Natural flavors (an unregulated term)
 • Sucralose (yes! An artificial sweetener in a so-called health drink)

Now, along with the list of not-so-great greens powders, there are some really great ones out there, typically not sold on Amazon, but sold directly from the company, which I think is always the best way to go. The only issue with these powders is that they all cost way over $60 a container which is definitely pricey and would be difficult to continue to purchase consistently.

That is why I set out to create what I feel is one of the highest-quality greens powders without any fillers, nasty ingredients, or artificial sweeteners of any kind, at a price that makes it more available to all of our members.

Energize was designed specifically to fill in any potential nutritional gaps and give you a great dose of Vitamin B12 to support your body’s energy production all day long.

"I recently subscribed to Energize and am amazed at the results! I no longer want snacks in the morning and I’m down to two cups of coffee unintentionally! Sometimes I only have one!

I noticed a difference within a week in comparison to the other greens supplement I had been on for years. I have crazy energy throughout the day now and almost no food cravings. This is the best greens supplement I’ve ever taken." - Amber K., New Life Promise member and Energize subscriber

If you're struggling with cravings or having enough energy to get through your busy day, Energize would be a great addition to your already healthy eating plan.

"I just wanted to say I’ve been using the Energize green powder supplement for about three days and honestly after the first day, I could feel a difference, more energy, more positive. I noticed it again yesterday that late afternoon I still felt good and I’ve been recuperating from being sick all winter and I just want to say thank you so so much and to let you know it’s wonderful!" - Anita S., New Life Promise member and Energize subscriber

My days are busy.

I’m sure you can relate.

Between my work tasks, my homeschool responsibilities, and then everything that comes with keeping a clean home and food on the table, who could possibly have time to take care of their health?

That is often the question I get from many of my friends…

Isabel, how do you keep up with your health habits alongside all the responsibilities that come with running a business and homeschooling 2 kids?

With good systems, routines, and the good Lord at the forefront of it all… that’s always my answer. 😀

Here’s is what a typical “day in the life” of Isabel looks like…

5am - I typically wake up before my alarm goes off at 5:10 am. Since I am in bed with the lights out by 9pm (more details on that below), my body is ready to wake up 8 hours later.

After the usual morning stuff in the bathroom, I head to the kitchen and pour myself 32 ounces of water in a large mason jar. I sprinkle a little bit of Redmond’s Real Salt in there for extra electrolytes and sip on that. I should mention that I keep a water filter on the counter so this water is room temperature, and sometimes I even warm the water a bit in the tea kettle.

After I have had a good bit of that water, I make myself either a green tea or a mushroom coffee and get comfy in front of my laptop. I always pray first: “Lord, please let this work I’m about to do be for Your glory and for Your kingdom, not mine.” Then I go straight to work.

If you've been around here for a while, you may be wondering what happened to my morning Bible reading. You’ll see that new change I’ve made below.

Around 7am, I’ve put a good dent in the work I want to get done in the morning and I head to my little home exercise room to pray and to stretch.

I lay my exercise mat on the floor and grab my scripture cards (index cards that I have written specific scripture verses on). I get on my knees and read the cards and pray. I will then put on my worship playlist and stretch for 10 minutes.

At this point, the house has come alive, and I can hear teenagers in the kitchen making a mess… I mean making breakfast lol… and dogs running around waiting to be walked. My two boys, Christian and Marcos, take care of all the morning chores so I can make my breakfast and then get right in the shower.

Right now, my breakfast is almost always 2 eggs, 1 ounce of cooked protein (leftover chicken or beef that is in the fridge), cooked carrots and zucchini, and ½ avocado. Sometimes I add a kiwi if Marcos hasn’t eaten them all.

By 9am I have eaten, showered, and am ready to start the day.

9am - 12pm looks different every day. Some days it is filled with work meetings, and other days it is filled with school with the boys. My kids “book a time” with me to do school so it is right in my calendar along with all my other meetings. I really do have to be this organized about it. Otherwise, when they ask me for help, I may not be available.

Somewhere in that 3-hour block of time, I take a 15-minute walk, either outside or on the treadmill. Because I have spent the majority of the morning sitting, it's important to get my body moving and get some steps in before lunch.

I always take a lunch break from noon - 1pm. I do my best to never book anything during this time because I like to eat peacefully. This is also, now, when I do my Bible reading. This is fairly new and still in the “experimental” phase, but so far I’m loving it. Right now, I’m reading the Bible in a year following a specific Bible reading plan. We started in the New Testament with the Apostle Paul’s journey and letters. I’m reading about 3-4 chapters a day so it takes me a good 30 minutes to read.

I have come to absolutely love this time and look forward to it because I eat slowly and peacefully while reading my Bible and everyone knows not to interrupt me.

Lunch always follow this template:

 • 4-6 ounces of protein - I almost always have leftovers in the fridge. It may be beef meatballs, chicken from a whole baked chicken, or salmon. If for whatever reason there are no leftovers, I always have canned salmon and canned sardines in the pantry.
 • 1-2 portions of veggies - This may be green beans, arugula, yellow squash, zucchini, mushrooms, or anything I have prepped ahead of time.
 • 1 portion of a starchy carb - This may be cooked sweet potatoes, white potatoes, rice, quinoa noodles, or my absolute favorite, Jackson’s Sweet Potato chips.

1pm - 4pm is very similar to the morning where I may have meetings or I may be spending long stretches of time helping one of my boys with their schoolwork. Again, I find a 15-minute break somewhere during that time to walk outside or on the treadmill.

4pm - I really don’t love working out in the late afternoon, but right now it seems to be the best time to fit it in. Three times a week I do a full-body strength training workout similar to what you’ll find in our BodyFIT Foundations program. The other days, I do a 2-mile walk outside or on the treadmill.

5pm - One of my boys meets me in the kitchen for dinner prep (they alternate days). We almost always plan the full week of dinners over the weekend for the following week, so we already know what we’re making and the protein is already defrosted or possibly even already cooked ahead of time.

(It's taken us a long time to get in a good groove with our meal planning. If you need any help with yours, check out LiveSmart for new recipes and meal plans each month!)

6pm - We never eat dinner later than 6pm. Now that my husband is not in football season (he is a high school football coach), the four of us sit down to dinner together pretty much every night. This will change a bit once Marcos starts baseball practice in the spring.

After dinner is the only time my boys are allowed to play video games, so they clean the kitchen and feed the dogs with serious motivation and speed to get it all done… lol. After we’re done cleaning, I will sit on the couch for a bit and scroll through my phone and laugh at all the memes my sister has sent me throughout the day. This is really the only time I sit and just scroll through my phone as my busy day doesn’t really allow me to be on my phone very much.

Around 7:30pm I start my nighttime routine. I take a bath or a shower and get in my pajamas. After that I head to the kitchen and make myself an herbal tea. Then it's off to the bedroom where I sip on the tea and read a book for about 30 minutes. Lights out at 9pm.

Of course, not every day is perfect and not every day is exactly the same, but having a framework for each day helps me to stay organized and helps to make my health habits easier because I know what I’m eating, when I’m eating, and when to get in movement throughout the day.

Scour the shelves of any health food store and there seems to be a supplement for every ailment. And now, in the age of the internet, just a quick search for said ailment will produce a myriad of ads for every miracle cure in a bottle.

With all that being said, I’m actually a big fan of supplements... for that purpose... to supplement a healthy eating plan and potentially target some specific health issues that need specific attention.

But with so many options, how do you choose?

Below I have listed the 5 supplements we currently offer in our Live Smart Nutritionals supplement line. Since every person’s needs are different, you may need some, all, or none at all... and that’s ok!

Energize Daily Greens Powder

Energize is our all-natural, energizing greens powder that is chock full of vitamins, minerals, digestive enzymes, and pre- and probiotics. My favorite part about Energize is that it does not contain caffeine or dangerous stimulants, so the increased energy comes from the natural ingredients that support your body to make its own natural and sustained energy.

There are so many reasons a high-quality greens powder can be a great addition to your weight loss eating plan but, hands down, the top two reasons I see all the time among our members is that it helps them control afternoon cravings and it helps them avoid the afternoon energy crash.

Energize is a good fit for you if you often experience any of the following…

 • You find yourself dragging mid-morning or mid-afternoon, making your work or daily tasks difficult to accomplish.
 • You have increased cravings for sugary snacks, especially in the afternoon, to get through the slump in your day.
 • You don’t enjoy a variety of fruits and vegetables and tend to gravitate towards the same ones over and over again.
 • You don’t feel well rested in the morning, even after a good night's sleep.

A huge downside I keep seeing in the supplement industry is that manufacturers jump on the bandwagon to produce the next popular supplement and, in an effort to get to market faster than their competitors, end up cutting corners and not focusing on quality. That's why many of the greens powders you find on Amazon and in some large retail stores are not 3rd party tested and are packed with fillers and additives.

Here are just a few of the ingredients I found in the most popular greens powders sold on Amazon:

 • Guar gum
 • Sunflower oil powder
 • Natural flavors (an unregulated term)
 • Sucralose (yes, an artificial sweetener in a so-called health drink)

Our Energize formula does NOT contain any of these dangerous ingredients and additives, so you can confidently take it every day without worrying about putting dangerous fillers in your body.

Energize is so easy to incorporate into your day. You just mix it with water and have it first thing in the morning or alongside your healthy breakfast.

OmegaPURE Essential Omega-3s

I don’t say this often, but I truly believe just about every person should be taking a quality Omega-3 product. I even have my teenage boys on an Omega-3 supplement.

Fish oil, the best source for quality Omega-3 fatty acids your body can use, contains Omega-3s, specifically DHA and EPA, which our bodies cannot make on their own. These fatty acids are critical for the optimum function of our brains, hearts, muscles, and joints (just to name a few), and it's vitally important that we get them from either food or supplementation.

Because the majority of people today are not getting enough foods like salmon, sardines, and anchovies in their diets (and honestly, it would really be hard to), supplementation is highly recommended.

The list of benefits of Omega-3 is endless and includes...

 • Reduces the risk of heart disease, help stabilize cholesterol levels and lower triglycerides
 • Supports cognitive function and memory
 • Helps combat chronic inflammation in the body
 • Supports retina health and may reduce the risk of macular degeneration
 • Alleviates joint pain and stiffness, particularly in arthritis
 • Supports metabolism, balances blood sugar, and may lead to accelerated weight loss

And that's just to name a few! What an amazing list! You can see why I recommend an Omega-3 supplement to just about everyone.

OmegaPure is a good fit for you if you…

 • Have a family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, or high triglycerides or you are currently suffering from any of these conditions yourself
 • Have a family history of diabetes or blood sugar related illnesses or you are suffering from this yourself
 • Have a family history of Alzheimer's or dementia
 • Suffer from any condition related to inflammation in your body

With Omega-3 supplements becoming so popular, there are many brands being sold today that are extremely low-quality and loaded with fillers and potentially dangerous additives. The majority of them are also not 3rd party tested and may use the cheapest and lowest-quality Omega-3s available to keep their profit margins as high as possible. If that wasn’t bad enough, many of these bottles end up on the supermarket shelf for months, maybe even years, slowly creating rancid oils with no regulations in place to keep bottles fresh.

So, yes, it is important to take an Omega-3 daily, but please be very careful which one you take.

Our Omega-3 supplement is 3rd party tested for purity and quality and does not contain any unnecessary additives or fillers, so you can feel confident about what you’re putting in your body every single day.

InflamCALM Essential Daily Turmeric

Turmeric is another one of those staple, foundational supplements that I recommend extremely often, especially to anyone suffering from conditions like arthritis or nagging joint pain.

Turmeric contains curcumin, which has the power to decrease inflammation and pain in the body just as much as over-the-counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Advil and Motrin. It accomplishes this by several mechanisms, including the COX-2 pathway blocked by NSAIDs.

That is amazing news for people who find themselves dependent on these anti-inflammatory drugs just to function well throughout the day. If you can accomplish the same pain relief with something natural that is also providing your body with other incredible benefits, that will always be a better choice than a drug that also comes with dangerous side effects (stomach ulcers and other serious gastrointestinal issues).

Similar to Omega-3s, the list of benefits that come with taking turmeric is quite extensive, but here are just a few...

 • Combats chronic inflammation, which is linked to diseases such as arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes
 • Helps reduce joint pain and stiffness, particularly in those with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis
 • Shows potential in reducing the risk of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's
 • Improves heart health and cholesterol levels
 • Helps soothe digestive disorders, including gas, bloating, and inflammatory conditions like IBS
 • Strengthens the immune system

It is important to note that turmeric’s benefits in the body are seen more powerfully when combined with black pepper for increased absorption. That is why our InflamCALM formula includes BioPerine, which is an extract of black pepper, clinically shown to increase the absorption of the curcumin that you take.

InflamCALM is a great option for you if you...

 • Have arthritis or suffer from muscular pain often
 • Have a family history of arthritis
 • Suffer from consistent digestive issues like bloating, gas, constipation, or diarrhea
 • Have a history of Alzheimer's or dementia in your family

InflamCALM is made with...

 • Organic, non-GMO plants
 • Absolutely zero added sugars
 • Gluten free Curcuma Longa roots
 • Vegan-friendly ingredients
 • None of the eight most common allergens (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans)

So you can be certain you are getting the highest quality ingredients when you take InflamCALM each day.

SkinREJUV Anti-Aging Collagen Formula

Aging is just a natural part of life. Our bodies are not quite the same at 50 as they were at 20, and that’s ok! But it doesn’t mean we can’t do our very best to support it along the way.

One significant change we see as we age is in our skin, and one of the biggest reasons is a decline in collagen beginning as early as 30 years old.

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, providing structure, strength, and elasticity to various tissues. It forms the building blocks of skin, muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues. Think of it as the "glue" that holds your body together.

The great news is that supplementing with high-quality collagen has been shown to...

 • Reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
 • Relieve joint pain and stiffness
 • Reduce symptoms of osteoarthritis
 • Help maintain bone density and strength
 • Improve hair thickness and nail growth
 • Support a healthy gut
 • Help counteract bone density loss, particularly in menopausal and postmenopausal women

Another great list of incredible benefits, especially for women!

The wonderful thing about SkinREJUV is that it is not just plain collagen like so many other products. We have enhanced the benefits of collagen alone by adding several nutrients that support skin, hair, and nail health.

Nutrients like...

 • Horsetail extract, a powerful anti-aging nutrient that protects your cells from "free radical" damage. It promotes skin elasticity and hair and nail strength
 • Bamboo extract, which stimulates collagen production on a cellular level while improving firmness in skin, hair, and nails
 • Hyaluronic acid, which speeds up the wound and scar healing process while drawing in much-needed moisture for improved skin hydration

SkinREJUV is a great choice for you if...

 • You have noticed an increase in fine lines and wrinkles
 • Your hair is thinning or shedding
 • Your nails are brittle or won’t grow
 • You're noticing more skin crepiness as you age

The great part about collagen is that it is so easy to use and to incorporate into your daily eating plan. You can add it to your morning coffee or tea; add it to foods like oatmeal, yogurt, or soup; or combine it with Energize to make the ultimate nutrient-rich morning drink.

The post 3 Wins for Each Day appeared first on New Life Promise.

]]>

Thank you to our wonderful member Diana for sharing this in our New Life Promise Family Facebook group a while back.

I saved it as soon as I saw it, because I absolutely LOVE this. I really do strive to accomplish something in each of these categories every single day.

Sometimes we think getting healthy just means eating the right foods and exercising, and we forget about the mental component or the spiritual component.

I like these 3 guidelines because it helps you touch on all the vital aspects of health every single day.

Here’s how I get each of these in…

A Physical Win

At the beginning of each week, I take a look at my calendar and schedule my workouts. I then take a look at my schedule each day and make sure the scheduled time still works on that particular day (since things can change quickly when you have 2 kids).

This scheduling piece is pretty important as I can’t just let my workouts happen by chance. When I do that, they just don’t happen. Life is so busy and workouts can quickly get derailed by so many other things.

For my workouts, right now I am enjoying using an app for strength training and then ending with some walking on the treadmill. On the days I don’t strength train, I will do a pretty lengthy stretching workout and take one of the dogs on a long walk.

If you don’t know where to start with your workouts, our BodyFIT Foundations program is a great strength training program for any beginner exerciser, or anyone who may be getting started again after not working out for a while.

Is BodyFIT Foundations perfect for you? -> See HERE

A Mental Win

Just like we need to exercise our muscles, we also need to exercise our brains every day. This becomes even more important as we get older.

I find that in the age of technology, people’s attention spans are getting shorter and shorter and one of the best ways to prevent that from happening is to spend some time reading every day.

Now, I’m a bookworm, so no one needs to convince me to pick up a book each day, but if you’re not, giving yourself little mini reading goals can help.

Of course, I recommend reading your Bible every day and if you can do that not on your phone, that would be great (although any way you read the Bible is a win). You can then spend some time journaling about what you read… again, preferably not on a computer or phone but using good ol’ pen and paper.

If you want to add to that, give yourself the goal of reading 5 pages of a book you know you will enjoy each day. You will be surprised by how many books you will finish each year by just reading a few pages a day.

Just this simple practice will help you use your brain well each day.

A Spiritual Win

I know you probably already know how powerful prayer is, but are you incorporating it into your day as much as you should?

The answer for you may be yes, but I know for me, until I started making a real effort to incorporate specific prayer times into my day, my prayer list would get long and my prayer time was short.

Now, I have specific times in my day when I pray, and I even have an alarm set on my phone for the afternoon prayer time.

In the morning, after I have completed my morning work time and my Bible reading, I spend time in prayer asking the Lord to guide my day. Sometimes I will listen to a worship song during this time (right now, my favorite song is "Here As In Heaven" by Elevation Worship) and spend some time in worship.

Later in the day, at 3pm, I have an alarm set on my phone that reminds me to stop everything and pray. This actually started when my best friend put together a small prayer group that had nine girls, all in different states and different countries, all praying at the same time. I absolutely loved it so much that I decided to continue praying at that time every day even when our group ended.

How about you? What is the best way for you to get a win in each category each day?

Spend some time today thinking about each category and what small changes you may need to make to get these 3 valuable wins in each day.

If you or someone you love has been told they have high cholesterol, this article is a must-read.

I just finished watching an interview with Dr. Robert Lustig M.D., author of Metabolical, and wow… my mind is blown!

I’ll give you a brief summary of the key takeaways below, but trust me—it’s worth watching the whole thing, especially if you've been told by your doctor that you have high cholesterol.

To find it, search "Understand Your CHOLESTEROL PANEL & Metabolic Health Tests - the ULTIMATE Guide Dr. Robert Lustig" on YouTube.

Now, I’ve known for many years that eating foods high in cholesterol and fat does NOT cause high cholesterol levels in your body. There are countless studies and books written by leading doctors that support this truth.

But somehow, despite all this science, so many people still think that foods like eggs, shrimp, red meat, butter, and healthy oils (like coconut oil) are the problem.

I’m here to tell you… they are NOT!

I would scream it from the mountaintops if I could! This is so important.

The real culprit? Can you guess?

SUGAR! (And refined carbs come in at a close second.)

It all boils down to your metabolic health—how well your body processes glucose and handles insulin.

Here are some key points from Dr. Lustig’s interview that everyone should know:

 • Triglycerides: When measured in a fasting state, they tell you how your liver handles carbs and sugar in your diet.
 • VLDLs and triglycerides: Your liver converts sugar into fat and packages it into VLDLs (a type of cholesterol).
 • Small dense LDL: This is the harmful type of LDL that can lead to plaque formation and cardiovascular issues.
 • Triglyceride-to-HDL ratio: This is a crucial marker for insulin resistance and heart disease risk.
 • Fasting insulin levels: These can give you insight into your liver function and overall metabolic health.
 • Sugar and refined carbs: These contribute to liver fat, but exercise and intermittent fasting can help reduce it.
 • Cholesterol panel interpretation: It’s essential to understand how the different markers work together. The total cholesterol number? It’s often misleading.
 • Triglycerides and HDL: Their ratio tells you more about your liver health and heart disease risk than the total cholesterol number.
 • Small dense LDL and liver fat: Sugar consumption and liver fat cause high levels of small dense LDL, which is more concerning than your total LDL levels.
 • Insulin resistance: This, often indicated by elevated fasting insulin, is a key factor in chronic metabolic diseases.

Making lifestyle changes—like cutting back on sugar, exercising, and intermittent fasting—can go a long way toward improving liver health and overall metabolic health.

So, what do you do if your lab results show high cholesterol? Here’s exactly what I’d tell you:

1. Ignore the total cholesterol number. Instead, focus on the ratio of triglycerides to HDL. If it's 1.5 or lower, you're in great shape! (The lower, the better.) My own recent blood test showed triglycerides at 88 and HDL at 98, giving me a ratio of 0.9—which, according to Dr. Lustig, means I should live forever… lol!

2. Ask if your fasting insulin levels were measured. If not, go back to your doctor and ask for that test. This will give you much deeper insights into your metabolic and liver health.

3. Cut out refined sugars and carbs. If you’re already following the New Life Promise meal plans, this is exactly what we do in the first four weeks.

4. Exercise is non-negotiable. If you’re not exercising yet, start with walking, and then work up to strength training three times a week.

5. Begin taking an Omega-3 supplement immediately. “There's strong evidence that omega-3 fatty acids can significantly reduce blood triglyceride levels.” as reported on the MayoClinic website. I’ve already written extensively on how the quality of Omega-3s you buy is vital so here is the one I recommend to all of our members:

Pure, clean, and effective OmegaPure-> Get your OmegaPure HERE

*NOTE - Dr. Lustig does recommend intermittent fasting, though I typically don’t for women. Men seem to do well with it, but for us ladies, our hormones (especially during perimenopause and menopause) can make it a little trickier.

But I promise, even without intermittent fasting, these changes can make a world of difference.

Take Patricia G., for example—a member of our NLP family. She started her journey in January, and by May, her cholesterol levels were fantastic. Here’s what she shared:

"I began this journey not necessarily to lose weight, but to get healthier. In December, my cholesterol was high, and I was prescribed medication, which I couldn’t take. I found this program, and something about it just felt right. I followed the plan faithfully, and I even enjoyed the food! By May, my doctor told me my cholesterol levels were great—better than they’ve been in years. I’m so thankful to be part of this group. Never give up—just take it one day at a time!"

With these tips, you’ll be well on your way to getting your cholesterol under control. If you'd like some additional help with losing weight, look no further than the New Life Promise plan!

Life has a way of being crazy sometimes doesn't it? Even with my detailed planning and super organized self, sometimes life throws me a curve ball I never saw coming.

You may be able to relate. There is quite a bit of uncertainty in our world today, but you know what?

That's okay!

Let’s dive into how we can navigate these feelings and find a sense of peace and purpose, even when life feels like it’s a little crazy and out of control.

Remember, you’re not alone.

Trust me when I tell you, it’s not just you. Many times we think we’re the only ones that can’t keep it together but more often than not, we are actually the majority and not the minority.

The first step in regaining your peace is remembering that you are not alone. This is not an isolated “you’” problem. There isn’t anything wrong with you and it's completely normal to go through times of overwhelm from time to time.

Who is really in control?

The other very important truth we must remember is that ultimate control isn't ours; it's God's. This doesn’t mean we sit back and do nothing, but rather, we trust that He’s got this. Acknowledging that God is in control helps ease our anxiety. It's a comforting thought, isn't it? We don’t need to have it all figured out because He does.

Establishing a Routine

Creating a routine is one of the best ways to bring some stability back into our lives. Even simple things like waking up at the same time every day or planning your meals can create a sense of normalcy. This isn’t about strict schedules or perfection; it's about giving yourself a framework to operate within, which can be incredibly grounding.

Focusing on What You Can Control

While we can't control everything, there are things we can manage, like our eating habits. It's easy to let stress take over and find comfort in unhealthy foods. But we can choose to nourish our bodies in a way that honors God and helps us feel our best. Let’s control what we can and trust God with the rest.

Community and Connection

In times like these, community becomes even more critical. Sharing your struggles and victories with others can be incredibly uplifting. Our New Life Promise community is a safe space where you can be vulnerable and find support without judgment. We’re all in this together, and sometimes, just knowing that can be a huge comfort.

Leaning on Scripture

Scripture is a powerful tool for finding comfort and guidance. One verse that resonates with me is John 13:7, where Jesus tells Peter, "You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will." It’s a reminder that we may not see the whole picture, but we can trust that God’s plan is the best plan.

Producing Fruit in Uncertain Times

Even when life feels chaotic, we are called to continue producing fruit. This means finding ways to grow and serve, even in small ways. Whether it's reaching out to someone who needs encouragement or starting a new project, there are countless ways to contribute positively to the world around us.

A Kingdom Perspective

Finally, let’s keep a kingdom perspective. In light of eternity, the struggles we face now are temporary. What truly matters is how we live out our faith, love others, and serve God. Every decision we make should reflect this eternal focus.

Closing Thoughts

If you're feeling overwhelmed and a bit out of control, remember that you're not alone. We're all in this together, and we can find strength in our faith, routines, and community. Let’s pray for each other, encourage each other, and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. He is our anchor in every storm.

Feel free to share this message with anyone who might need some encouragement today. And if you have prayer requests or need support, reach out. We are Prayer Warriors here, lifting each other up!

Does healthy eating have to be expensive? Absolutely not!

Actually, it can be quite the opposite, often saving you hundreds of dollars each month like it has for so many of our members…

Anyone else also love how much money they are saving by cooking and eating at home!? Since I'm not eating out or eating expensive processed junk food my budget and scale really like me. - Katie L. - New Life Promise Member

One of the most common concerns I hear is that eating healthy will cost more. But with the right tools in place, it can actually be a great way to save money.

Here are some great tips and tricks you can implement into your own life to make taking care of your body budget friendly.

Slow Transition

Many of our members tell us they just want to completely clear their cabinets and start over. As much as I completely understand their excitement, that may not be very wallet friendly. Begin by transitioning items in your pantry as you run out of them. Or, maybe, don’t replace some items at all. For example, if your family is used to having a lot of processed foods and sugary snacks in the house, not buying those will produce a big savings. So don’t put pressure on yourself to do it all at once. Slow and steady still wins the race.

Great Places to Shop

Once you're ready to begin the transition, opt for stores that have great deals on healthy foods. Aldi, Costco and Sam’s have an incredible amount of healthy food choices at great prices. Trader Joe’s is also great if you have one in your area and my local Walmart now has a good variety of healthy food choices.

For my pantry items, I will order from either Vitacost.com or ThriveMarket.com for great savings. I do NOT order any food items on Amazon as some of their vendors can sometimes be selling fake versions of popular brand names (I also do NOT buy supplements on Amazon for that reason as well).

No More Food Wasted

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely hate wasting food. It just feels so irresponsible and careless which is why I try and do everything possible in our house to make sure this doesn’t happen.

When you know what healthy meals you are going to prepare each week, you can shop with focus, with a list, and know exactly what you’ll need each week. Our members absolutely love that I’ve taken the thinking out of their shopping and out of their meal planning and given them every detail they need for a successful week.

Along with good planning, you can also get in the habit of freezing leftovers and having those available for busy nights when there is no time to cook or prepare a healthy meal.

Where Did My Money Go?

We often get to the end of the month and wonder, where did my money go? Did you eat out several times? That certainly adds up quickly. Did you make a lot of non-essential purchases in the month? Are there services you are paying for monthly that are not necessary? Take a good look at where you are spending your money and ask yourself if you would greatly benefit from using this money towards your health goals instead. Doing a good evaluation of your monthly expenses and spending habits can give you some possible places where you can cut back and use that money for healthy food instead.

Thinking Long Term

Many of us are diligent about saving and making sure we are ready for our retirement years financially but what investment are we making for our retirement physically?

The time and money you put into taking care of yourself now will certainly produce many healthcare savings in the future. The cost of medications and healthcare has become increasingly more expensive each year. Why not do your very best to take good care of yourself now, potentially reducing the need for these pharmaceuticals in the future.

When my mother was my age (47 years old) she was already on 5 different medications to help manage her Type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. I specifically remember what a financial burden those medications were. If only she had had access to some of the life giving information she learned later in life, some of those meds may not have been necessary.

A Supportive Community

Building a supportive community that shares tips and experiences can make your journey to healthier eating much easier. Encouragement, advice, and shared resources can help you transition to a healthier lifestyle more smoothly. We’re all in this together!

What do you need the most right now to achieve your health and weight loss goals? Where can myself and our community of believers be praying for you the most?

Come and join us now inside the New Life Promise Family. I’m so excited to see you there.

Have you started and stopped more diets than you can count?

Are you tired of the up and down yo yo cycle that comes with most diets?

You are not alone. Chances are either you or someone you know has lost a significant amount of weight, only to gain it all back again.

We see a lot of wonderful testimonials of great success inside our community, but we also see honest and vulnerable posts like this…

Hi, this is like my third time starting the program. I start and then lose interest and then quit. I really want to stick with it this time so pray with me so I can. - Janet M.

We absolutely will be praying for Janet as we do all of our members.

But why does this happen?

You know you want to lose weight. You know you want to be healthy so why does it feel like it's so hard to stick to anything long term?

The answer came to me as I was reading my Bible, specifically the parable of the sower in Matthew 13.

Verses 3-7 tell us that Jesus was speaking to a large crowd, as He often did, and told them a parable.

He begins with, “A farmer went out to sow his seed.”

Jesus then gives 4 different scenarios…

#1 - Some seed fell along the path and the birds came and ate it up.

#2 - Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.

#3 - Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.

#4 - Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

He then goes on to explain each scenario in verses 18-23 and this is when I had my “Aha moment.”

#1 - When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

#2 - The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

#3 - The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.

#4 - But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

As I read these explanations, I realized that there are likewise four different scenarios in our health journey that correlate so perfectly to each of these and only when we reach #4 will our health and weight loss efforts truly stick and become a permanent part of our lives.

#1 - This is the person who hears they should take care of their body and possibly lose weight to be healthier but they immediately ignore it and don’t do anything with it at all.

#2 - This is the person that sees a neighbor or friend try a new weight loss program or finds a new one online and quickly becomes excited about it. But the moment it gets even a little difficult, they quickly abandon the whole thing.

#3 - This is the person that is on their health journey and doing well for some time, but then allows the cares and stresses of this world to completely derail them. This may also be the person who, after a few scale disappointments (the cares of this world), throws in the towel and gives up.

#4 - This is the person who not only follows a healthy eating plan, but truly understands it. The fruit of their understanding and commitment to the plan not only shows in their health, but begins to show in all areas of their lives. Now others begin to notice and they are positively influencing those around them.

Number 4 sounds like the promised land…lol…the place we all want to achieve and reach someday. It truly is making this a lifestyle and not something you are just doing short term.

That is why I have structured our program like this…

 • 4 weeks of detoxing from sugar and food additives while enjoying delicious meals using the New Life Promise meal plans and recipes.
 • A community of fellow believers and coaches (51,500 people strong), all there to support and pray with you along the way.
 • Our LiveSmart monthly program that continues to deliver easy and delicious recipes and meal plans after the first 4 weeks and supports you in making this a true enjoyable lifestyle.

Today I have completed my seventh week on the plan! I am so happy! I feel so much better! Less joint pain with each passing week! I have lost 20 pounds!!! I am back to the weight I was 28 years ago (still 100 pounds to go) but for the first time in my 67 years I know I can do this- be a healthy weight, live without sugar addiction and know that nothing is between me and my God! Hallelujah! Rejoice with me! - Sabrina G.

Losing weight can sometimes feel like a difficult journey. Just like we turn to scripture for other areas of our life, our health and our weight loss should be no different.

Today, I want to share with you 5 Bible Verses you can keep handy that will help keep your mind and your heart right as you embark on the journey to a healthier you.

1 Corinthians 10:31 "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

This verse is a beautiful reminder to align our actions with God's glory. When we make choices that honor Him, even in our eating and drinking, we bring a sacred purpose to our daily routines. By asking ourselves if our choices glorify God, we can stay motivated to make healthier decisions.

1 Peter 3:3-4 "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

This verse encourages us to focus on inner transformation. While external changes are part of the journey, the real beauty lies in cultivating a gentle and quiet spirit. As we work on our physical health, let’s also nurture our inner selves, finding peace and contentment in God’s love.

Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Understanding that we are God’s masterpiece can transform how we view our health journey. We are created for good works and fulfilling God’s purpose. Taking care of our bodies is part of honoring the beautiful creation that we are, enabling us to serve and fulfill our God-given missions.

2 Chronicles 20:12 "Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you."

This verse is a powerful reminder to turn to God in times of struggle. When we face challenges on our health journey, acknowledging our dependence on God's strength can be incredibly empowering. We cannot overcome obstacles alone, but with God’s help, we can find the strength to persevere.

Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

The fruits of the Spirit include self-control, which is crucial in making healthy choices. By cultivating these fruits, we allow God’s Spirit to guide our behaviors and decisions. Embracing self-control, along with the other fruits, helps us stay committed to our wellness goals.

Remember, God is with you every step of the way on this journey. When you integrate faith with your health goals, you’ll find a deeper, more meaningful motivation that transcends any temporary challenge.

If you’re ready to live a better, healthier life, look no further than the New Life Promise plan! Let's make this journey together, with God by our side.
